The questions that come up most, split by which side of the job you are on. If yours is not here, the contact page reaches a person.
Booking a job
-
Do I need an account to book?
You need a phone number, because the professional has to be able to reach you and because a rating has to belong to somebody. Nothing else.
-
How soon can somebody come?
Anyone marked available today has told us they have room today. Emergency callouts are usually within the hour. Everything else is normally same day or next.
-
Can I book for somebody else?
Yes. Put their address and their number in the details so the professional calls the right person when he is outside.
-
What if nobody accepts?
The request goes to the next professionals who cover your area and do that job. If nothing comes back, you are told rather than left waiting.
Prices and paying
-
Why do some jobs show a price and others a quote?
A job with a known shape carries a fixed price. Anything that has to be looked at first cannot honestly carry one, so it comes back as a range against your photos.
-
Can the price go up during the visit?
Only for parts or extra work you approve while he is there. The invoice cannot exceed what you approved, and every addition is on the job record.
-
How do I pay?
Cash or card to the professional at the end of the visit, against an invoice generated from the job.
-
Is there a call-out fee?
Only where the professional lists one, and it is shown before you book, not after he arrives.
Cancelling and problems
-
Can I cancel?
Free until the visit starts. After that you are charged for the time spent, which is on the job record so there is nothing to argue about.
-
Something went wrong after the visit.
Open the job and contact support from it. The messages, photos, agreed price and invoice are already attached, so support starts with the whole file rather than with your account of it.
-
He did not turn up.
Report it from the job. Repeated no-shows take a professional off the marketplace, whatever their rating says.
For professionals
-
What does verification involve?
Phone first, then ID. Business registration and trade documents are optional and each shows separately on your page, so a customer sees exactly what was checked.
-
Can I turn the marketplace off?
Yes, at any time, without losing your page or your customer list. A lot of professionals use it only in the quiet months.
-
Who owns my customer list?
You do. Export it whenever you want, and it goes with you if you leave.
-
Can I remove a rating?
No, and neither can we. You can reply to it, and a reply sits under it permanently.
